Grand Piano Moments
In 1958, located in Bush Chapel at Southeastern Bible College, a man by the name of Tom Whidden crawled under a grand piano to pray. It was here that Tom heard the voice of the Lord and was called to go to Concord, North Carolina to plant a church. Around 59 years later, that very church would begin a partnership with the same university where Tom encountered God.
The intent of this partnership was two fold. Firstly, we wanted to bring affordable Christ-centered accredited degree programs to college students in the Carolinas region. Secondly, we wanted to create a dwelling place where students could have their very own grand piano moments.
Since the beginning of this venture, we have been able to provide over 250 students with access to a Christ-centered education at a rate that is more than 50% less than what it traditionally costs. More than 30 students have gone on to graduate with less debt and impact different fields in the marketplace with a Biblical worldview. These areas include business, education, non-profits, and different areas of ministry at more than 15 churches in the region. This is only the beginning and we are excited about what is on the horizon for SEU Carolina.
Once renovations are completed in the fall of 2024, our students will have a dwelling place where they can encounter God and have their very own grand piano moments.
