Interested in studying behavior? The SEU Carolina School of Behavioral & Social Sciences is one school with majors in three areas - Criminal Justice, Psychology, and Human Services.


Sample Core Courses

  • Juvenile Delinquency (CRIM 3303) — If you are majoring in Criminal Justice, one of the courses you will take is Juvenile Delinquency. This course covers the types of delinquency as well as supporting theories. The effects of social institutions on delinquency, prevention and control are also studied. The juvenile justice system is compared to the adult system, and the social consequences of delinquency are studied.

  • Social Psychology (PYSC 3733) —  If you are majoring in Psychology, one of the courses you will take is Social Psychology. This course is a survey of theories of interpersonal behavior and group dynamics, emphasizing the influence of groups and group membership on individual behavior. Topics include aggression, attitudes, attribution, conformity, altruism, communication, propaganda, morale and other aspects of interpersonal relationships.

  • Human Services and Faith Integration (HUSV 3433) — If you are majoring in Human Services, one of the courses you will take is Human Services & Faith Integration. The purpose of this course is to provide students with an opportunity to explore human services from a Christian world view that involves intentionally integrating faith and human services with an emphasis on spiritual and professional growth.

Whether you’re interested in working as a police officer, FBI investigative specialist, correctional facility employee or something similar, studying criminal justice at the SEU Carolina School of Behavioral & Social Sciences will equip you with the knowledge and hands-on experience you need to help make our world a safer place to live. Within the criminal justice major itself, you will study the three major branches of our criminal justice system: law enforcement, the courts and corrections.

Your psychology courses at the SEU Carolina School of Behavioral & Social Sciences will equip you with the tools and knowledge you need to counsel others in the spirit of Christ. You will learn various theories to explain normal human behavior, behavior that’s not accepted by society and behavior of people as they grow from infants to the mature stages of adulthood. You’ll also learn how to design sound experiments to help you discover why people do what they do. In addition to your core courses, you will complete internships that will give you practical experience in the field.

Learn to improve the quality life of others by studying human services at the SEU Carolina School of Behavioral & Social Sciences. You’ll be equipped to solve problems, meet the needs of people who are hurting, and advocate for change in the systems that affect the lives of those who need assistance most. Graduates of this program will be qualified to work in environments such as clinics, nursing homes, social services agencies, substance abuse programs, homeless shelters, and community organizations.
